Solex was founded in the late 70’s by a group of Thai entrepreneurs who believed it was possible to design and manufacture quality padlocks comparable to the top international brands. Having first—hand knowledge of the manufacturing processes of some of the world’s top padlock brands, the group sought to improve on existing padlock designs. Solex stood out as one of the few Asian brands at the time to invest heavily in technology acquirement and research and development, an aspect that Solex continues to proudly maintains till this day.

Solex took just under a decade to establish its presence in the global market, and to mark the achievement, a new hi-technology manufacturing plant in Bangkhutein was put into operation. This plant boasts among the largest manufacturing capacities within the region. The investments in research and development also saw Solex introducing new padlock ranges that incorporated the latest sophisticated security features and improved materials and craftsmanship.
